Mumbai: The pending exams for final year diploma engineering and pharmacy students will begin from September 15 and October 15, Maharashtra State Board of Technical Education (MSBTE) announced on Thursday (September 10).
According to a circular issued by MSBTE, the practical exams for the final year students will be held from September 15 to 25 and the theory papers will be conducted between October 5 and 15. The backlog papers of these students will be held between September 25 to October 4. The theory exams will be conducted in the form of hour-long Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) papers, while the practical tests, which students can take from their homes on a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop. The practical exams will be held orally using online meeting software, the board said.
While the theory papers will have questions from the entire syllabus, the marks obtained by the students will be scored out of 90% and later converted into 100%. This is because, according to MSBTE, almost 90% of the syllabus was completed before the institutes were shut down due to Covid-19 pandemic. Each paper will have 40 questions carrying one mark each, out of which students will have to attempt 30 questions.
The students who don’t have internet, mobile or computer will be able to take the tests physically at their nearest polytechnic college. Those who are unable to take the online test for any unavoidable reason, will get another chance to appear for the exam. The students with disabilities will get additional time for their papers.
